Rihanna is stupid.
Now, I’m not advocating spousal abuse or anything like that. What Chris Brown did to her was disgusting and cowardly — but word on the street is that she took him back. I mean, I’m all for forgiveness and love and all that good shit, but when a guy beats your ass, smashes your head against a window, BITES you (what the fuck?), and threatens to kill you. . .
You don’t take them back. Unless you’re an idiot.
And now, if Rihanna doesn’t testify against Chris Brown in court, he may as well get off scot-free. It’s ridiculous. I hate people.

I suggest you educate yourself about abusive relationships. It's not uncommon for the victim to take back the abuser.
Jen… duh. Many victims do take back the abuser. Rihanna has thousands of people caring for her (fans), wanting to protect her from being KILLED. Yes, Chris Brown threatened to KILL her. WTF!? What is there to be "educated" about regarding abusive relationships? They shouldn't even exist. This quarrel shouldn't have ended that way. Chris Brown is such a dumbass.
Exactly, Chris Brown is the dumbass. Don't blame the victim. What's there to be educated? Abusive relationships shouldn't exist but unfortunately they do; the victims need support, not a bunch of people telling them they are stupid for taking the abuser back.
You need to know that it's a common mistake for victims to stay with the abuser, but that doesn't mean they deserve what they get, or that they're stupid.
I get that the comic is for fun. It just annoys me when people support victim blaming.
Jen, I understand where you're coming from. It just irks ME that this isn't the first instance of abuse that Rihanna has suffered under the hands of Chris Brown, and yet she forgives him every single time. The one that made the news just happened to be the latest and worst incident. Yes, it's a mistake, but since it's apparently such a common occurence, wouldn't that mean that more people should wise up to it?
She was a victim the first time she ever got hit. Every time after that gives puts her more and more to blame since she could have put a stop to it at any time by just simply leaving.
That's just how I see it. I'm not saying that's how you should see it too, though.

Enzo, I have to agree with Jen. Don’t get me wrong, I love your comic, but most people that take the “blame the victim” view don’t understand the cycle of violence. When someone is beaten and abused that way, they feel like they can’t escape. It doesn’t matter if the victim has millions of fans and people who love and support her, what matters is that she’s probably afraid and fears for her life.
I get that this is a comic and it’s supposedly in “good fun”, but honestly, I think that taking that standpoint is really ignorant.
Rihanna needs to be helped, not ridiculed. Just because her story is splashed all over the news because she’s famous doesn’t make her any different from any other person who suffers from domestic violence. She just happens to be privy to public scrutiny.
I understand, yes, I probably am ignorant to an extent since of course I have never experienced something like that. It just honestly makes -no sense- to me, personally. If you’re put in a position where you fear for your life… aren’t you supposed to run? Isn’t that the logical thing to do? You’ve heard the story of Amy Smart, right?
The thing with this strip is that it was made a day or two after the incident, when rumors that she had gone back to Chris Brown were still circulating. Now that it turns out they’re untrue, and that she’s suing his ass… That’s good for her. She did the right thing: she left.
Again, just voicing my opinion, not asking you to agree.
